Chicago Tribune Exposes Labor Violations at Car Washes

September 21, 2012

This morning, the Chicago Tribune published an article showing that a vast majority of car wash employees are subject to labor abuses.  Specifically, the article was reporting on a study done by the University of Illinois:

Titled “Clean Cars, Dirty Work,” the report, funded partially by United Steelworkers, found that a majority of Chicago carwash employees, who are mostly men and Latino, earn less than the state’s hourly minimum wage of $8.25 and work more than 40 hours every week.
