When I see an article like this one, I imagine lots of people looking at their investment statements, 401(k) investments, IRAs, and other holdings while shaking their heads. Â Retirement looks further away, kids’ college educations look more expensive, and that mortgage feels more oppressive. Â Everyday folks need to worry about finances, and when the market slides like it did today, a (hopefully) small part of those finances probably disappeared.
But sometimes, the reasons behind those losses are more sinister than a “market downturn.” Â Sometimes, your broker’s recommendations or a company’s misstatements caused those losses. Â Days like today should remind you that you may have options in recovering your investments.
